Everybody has a perception of how artists' live,(we're broke, starving, or struggling to get by), and if we tell someone that we're artists' it's all a joke. They laugh, joke, and whatever they do, they do not know the art of hustling.<br /><br />To be an artist you must first be a salesperson- 75% marketing<br />25% creativity<br />1) There is no need to have a painting done a day and it sits in the corner for years, or is brought out in special occassions.<br />A) This is an amatuer.<br />B) This takes up space.<br />2) To be a "PRO" one must hustle, or sell the stuff. I know when starting out it is a bit overwhelming, but one must perservere.<br />A) Venues to try include:<br />1. Door to door soliciting<br />2. Gift shop/Local Businesses<br />3. Art guilds=NETWORKING<br />4. Art Fairs/Festivals= CLIENTELE<br />5. Auctions,Charity,Donations<br />6. Word of Mouth Ad.= cheapest, yet most effective<br />B) Other Marketing venues :<br />1. Ebay<br />2. Website<br />3. Online galleries<br />4. Online competitions<br />5. Forums<br />These are some of the things that I have tried, and continue to try.
